First Rejection of "Totem"

Stardate 17809.9/The Year of Our Lord 2009, June the twenty-seventh

Saturday

Dear justly excited and excitable writers of the future,

Today I received my first rejection of the short story "Totem". The form letter appeared quite polite. Spirits high.

It was a quicker than average return, I understand. This pleases me, because now I can send it to a different magazine. I'm going to read back through it and see if there any typoes, though. And I think that the first couple paragraphs need strengthening. Although I'm inclined to just send it back out as is and see what happens.... Dunno. Not going to do anything till Monday anyhow, seeing as how the postal service is a bunch of slackers, with their weekends and regular business hours and things. Humbug, I say.

I actually really like the postal service. I like mailing things.

Anyway, spirits high. Editing of the next story I'm going to begin vetting is going well.

Sincerely

Me

Good on ya for getting the story out there. Sounds like you've got the right attitude for the rejection/submission cycle.
